General Information
This is a small, yet thriving, provincial port. Main imports include fertilizers, grains, petroleum, iron and steel and general cargoes. Exports include ores, rubber, tea and local products. The port largely serves the need of bulk trades. Expansion into container handling is likely to be on a feeder basis.

Highways link the various regions of the island to the ports Shipping lines serve Zhanjiang, Guangzhou and Hong Kong. There is a RO/RO service between Haikou and Zhanjiang and an around-the-clock automobile ferry service between Haikou and Haian. containers.
