Approach: Fifteen n\miles before arrival at the approach (fairway) buoy all vessels should contact the harbour office by VHF ch. 16 in position Lat. 31 21 32 N; Long. 32 20 81 E
Anchorage: Two anchorage areas:
Pilotage: Compulsory for all vessels arriving, sailing, moving, changing berth or shifting in harbour.
Radio frequency information: Port management office listening on VHF ch. 16 (156.200 mhz), ch. 12 (156.600 mhz) and ch. 13 (156.650 mhz).
Weather conditions: The weather most of the
year is normally N Westerly.
The height of tide is 0,50 m at spring tide.
The tidal current 1.0 knot at windy weather.
Peak currents about 50 min after predicted HW and LW.
In summer and winter about 0,20 m and 0,30 m.
Accommodation: This is an artificial harbour, well sheltered by breakwaters. Depth at entrance 12.50 m max. Authorised draft in harbour 10.67 m; in entrance channel and canal 11.28 m. Quays at harbour as follows:

Quays at Abbas (BA) and Sheriff (B.Sh) Basins mx. Permissible draft 8.23 m, vessels drawing more than 8.23 m have to discharge cargo into lighters. The quay with a water depth of 5 m, used for lighters and other shallow draught vessels. There is a free zone area in the port covering an area of 918, 698 mē.
Cranes: Floating cranes with 500 tons
lifting capacity on the main hook. 8 mobile cranes cap.
2 x 20 t, 2 x 12.5 t, 2 x 12 t, 1 x 24 t, 1 x 21 t with max. reach of 20 m.
Container and Ro/Ro facilities: The area between bollards 23 and 24 of the deep water Abbas Quay serve as a container and Ro/Ro berth, depth alongside 8.23 m, container terminal situated in the Abbas Basin, operated by Port Said Container Handling Co. Equipment includes two heavy duty container gantry cranes of 41 t cap. A further 250 m of quay is available adjacent to the container terminal, which is a multipurpose berth operated under the control of the port authority. Also a 65 m quay that caters for Ro/Ro ships.
Bulk cargo facilities: Floating grain discharge plant for vessels up to 11.6 m d. cap. 5000 t/day. Grain silo of 80,000 t cap. Cement silo of 1000,00 t. cap.
Provisions: ISSA members available.
Fresh Water: Available by barges and alongside.
Bunkers: Available by diff. Petroleum companies.
Shiprepairs: Port Said shipyard (P.S.S.) has acquired long-standing experience in the repair and building of different floating vessels such as all types of ships, dredgers, tugboats etc. Docking ships for repair up to 50,000 dwt and executing repairs afloat along repair quays, at anchorage areas and also on way through canal. Building of different types of vessels (ship - special purposes vessels, dredgers, tugs, etc.) up to 20,000 dwt. P.S.S. is executing salvage by equipped and highly qualified divers as well as inspection and under water welding operations.

Building berth: Length 150 m, breadth 43 m, slope 1=165. Arranged for building 2 vessels 12000 dwt each or one vessel 20000 dwt, equipped with 4 cranes (2 x 60 t and 2 x 40 t lifting cap.)

Different workshops for carrying out the works required for the shipyard activities. A total of 2000 m long repair quays and a repair area of 8500 mē.
Towage: Multi-type tugs available for towing and berthing of vessels.
Airports: El Gamil, 57 km from Port Said. International airport at Cairo, approx. 200 km.
Medical assistance & pharmacies: By
specialist doctors on board, also the shipping federation doctors are available. The
doctor may be called during the day by hoisting the "W" flag. Very good
hospitals are available too.
All medical prescriptions are executed at any time and delivered on board during vessel's
stay in port.
