NORTH BOUND AND SOUTH BOUND INFORMATION OF SUEZ CANAL

NORTH BOUND - SUEZ

There is only one convoy north bound starting at 0615 hrs until 1130 hrs, with arrival limit 0100 hrs for LARGE CONTAINER vsls, VLCC, ULCC, HEAVY BULKER VSLS and VSLS with Draft average of 38 ft. For any other kind of vsl, the arrival limit is 0300 hrs.
Tanker Group (i.e. LPG and LNG loaded or NFG, 3RD GENERATION CONTAINER VSLS, VSLS over 38 ft Draft and loaded TANKERS) arriving from 0100 hrs to 0300 hrs may join tankers group against an additional charge of 3 pct of the Canal Dues or 5 pct in case of arrival from 0300 hrs to 0330 hrs.
Vessels entitled to join the ordinary group arriving from 0300 hrs to 0400 hrs, can join their group against and additional charge of 3 pct of the Canal Dues or 5 pct in case of arrival from 0400 hrs to 0500 hrs.

The above limit time for arrival to join the convoy is on the basis of passing the following latitudes:
       

SOUTH BOUND - PORT SAID

There are two south bound convoys:

The first one has arrival limit 1900 hrs, starting 0100 hrs until 0500 hrs. Vsls arriving from 1900 hrs to 2100 hrs may join this convoy against an additional charge of 3 pct of the Canal Dues or 5 pct in case of arrival from 2100 hrs to 2200 hrs.

The second one has arrival limit 0300 hrs, starting from 0700 hrs until 0900 hrs which is limited to vsls with max Draft 42 ft./Beam 135 ft, Draft 39 ft./Beam 145 ft. and Draft 38 ft./Beam 148 ft.
Vsls arriving from 0300 hrs to 0400 hrs may join convoy against an additional charge of 3 pct of the Canal Dues or 5 pct in case of arrival from 0400 hrs to 0500 hrs.
This convoy makes fast at Al Ballah West branch and following vsl categories are not allowed to join:

•  Loaded Tankers or Bulk Carriers carring Petroleum Grade A or similar substances (FP below 23DG C or 73DG, ascertained by an open test or any equal degree of accuracy).
• Liquefied inflammable gas vsls (LPG, LNG or similar loaded or ballast NGF vsls)
• Vsls not fitted with double bottom carrying chemical in bulk
• Vsls carrying Uncontainerized Radioactive substance Group 1
• Vsls carrying dangerous wastes
• Heavy lifters (sem-submersible) carrying heavy lift units with tonnage exceeding the lifting capacity of their individual cranes
• Vsls carrying deck cargo protruding more than what is stated in Art.26 of S.C. Rules of Navigation.
• Vsls over 90000 tons S.C. GT
• Navy ships

The arrival limit for vsls joining south bound convoys is on the basis of passing South of Latitude 31 28.70 N.
