VESSELS ESCORTATION AT SUEZ CANAL
Escorting the vsls transiting Suez Canal is effectuated
according to the Suez NRT figure and not her SDT.
The escort of VLCC's , ULCC's, LPG, LNG, Large B/C and other vsls according to Art.58 of S.C. Rules of Navigation is as
follows:
- Loaded vsls less than 70,000 Suez NRT will be
escorted by one tug if for technical reasons S.C.A. finds it necessary, or
when the vsls draugt is more than 47ft.
- Loaded vsls from 70,000 Suez NRT up to 90,000
Suez NRT will be escorted by one tug.
- Loaded vsls over 90,000 Suez NRT will be escorted
by two tugs.
- L.P.G. and L.N.G. over 25,000 Suez NRT except
GF Carriers which are treated as tankers in ballast, will be escorted by one
tug
- Vsls in ballast with beam over 218 ft up to 233 ft will be escorted by one
tug.
- Vsls in ballast with beam over 233 ft will be escorted by two
tugs.
- Towed scrapped vsls in ballast 80,000 Suez NRT
and over will be escorted by one tug.
