SCA CIRCULAR 146/2006

Regarding the ships willing to transit Suez Canal with axial propeller and un-equipped with steering, please be acknowledged that the Suez Canal Authority had decided the following procedures to be applied:

1. If the ships' beam is less than 20 meters, then sea-trials for speed/steerage at the open sea anchorage area. In case succeeded such sea-trials, then the ships will be allowed to transit canal without imposed S.C. Tugs.

2. If the ships' beam is between 20 meters and 40 meters, the ship must transit canal on her self machinery but under S.C.A. imposed tug.

3. If the ships' beam is more than 40 meters, the ship will transit canal under towing by S.C.A. tugs.
