Maximum beam: 254.3 ft (if more approval from SCA must be first obtained)
Maximum draft for loaded vessels: 66 ft

These figures vary from vessel to vessel as the canal authority works on the basis of beam and draft tables. Vessels allowed to transit at draft of over 50 ft and up to the maximum permitted must for the first passage effectuate a successful sea trial at the roads before entering the canal. Vessels with beam 210 ft and up to 254.3 ft are allowed to transit only in calm weather, i.e. beam wind not exceeding 10 knots.
